Need your car detailed? LOF @ Mike Wolfe's
Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 9:21PM Granted, Mike Wolfe is actually my neighbor, but nonetheless I used him as my mechanic before I moved in next door. I use to take my car in to his shop for routine oil changes and thought nothing of the new garbage bag attached to the stick shift and the neatness of my car when I picked her up. NOW, I specifically take my car in for the routine oil change because I get a detail out of it. The routine LOF might cost a bit more than Jiffy Lube, but they do a 40 point safety inspection (usually they can find something, well, maybe that's just my car) and the full-meal-deal - supersized detail. They wash the outside and vacuum whatever isn't covered in toys and debris. In fact one time my kids were at my folks so the car seats were out of the backseat.....some poor soul actually scraped the carseat perimeter grime off! I came back the next day with freezer jam and whatever I could scrounge up from my garden. I truly thought that stuff was never coming off & I sure didn't want to touch it - I was going to sell the car with that stuff in it.
Needless to say, Mike and his crew are perfectionists. That's a good thing in that they are looking out for your safety, but you don't have to get done everything that they say you need to. I'm not sure if they detail everyone's car for a simple LOF, but be sure to tell Scott (the front desk guy) or Mike that Sara Rolfs sent you and they'll chuckle and smile and probably detail your car for you too.
FYI - I don't take my car in for the LOF via the info on those silly stickers they put on my windshield, it's when the grime in the car reaches about an inch......that means it's time to check out that oil.
