Spring has definitely sprung in the Wenatchee Valley.  This means it's time to get busy in your garden if you haven't already.  Here's a list of information that I find pertinent and might be useful:

Average last freeze  April 11           Average last frost    April 24

Plant root crops the last quarter of the moon, leafy crops between the first quarter & the full moon

Locally, potatoes are traditionally planted the week of Easter, tomatoes the week of Apple

Local Family in Need - Please review....

Moya’s Dream… to walk to talk

We have new hope for our Moya!! Moya Marie is our beautiful three year old little girl who was born with cerebral palsy. For the past year we have been researching and discussing a new treatment option for Moya. Doctors in Germany have developed a new treatment with stem cells to help treat cerebral palsy. They have had a good success rate and the stories of children treated with this therapy are amazing.
How this treatment works: they remove bone marrow from Moya’s hip; remove the stem cells from that bone marrow then they mix these stem cells with her cerebral spinal fluid.  The stem cells then migrate to the areas of her brain that are damaged and grow new healthy cells. This treatment has been proven to help decrease spasticity (Moya has in her arms and legs), increase balance, and increase communication skills. These are all things that would greatly benefit Moya and make a real difference in her life. If you would like to learn more about this procedure please visit their website at www.XCell-Center.com.

Our hope is to help raise money for this treatment. The cost is approximately 10,000 US dollars. So with the help and generosity of our family, friends, and community we are hoping to raise this money to change Moya’s life. If you would like to contribute we have set up a donation account at Wells Fargo Bank. The account is under Moya St. Denis donation account. You can go to any branch location or you can send to: Jaime St. Denis 2508 No. 1 Canyon Rd Wenatchee WA 98801. We also set up a paypal account on our blog site.

I have created a blog site at http://wastdenisfam.blogspot.com/ to help our friends and family follow Moya's progress towards our goal.
Please feel free to forward this on to everyone, any help at all is greatly appriciated.
Thank you Soren & Jaime St. Denis.

Oh me, oh my - OHME GARDENS

Family Hike at OhmeIt is that time of year again to get our kids out of boredom....here is a snippette I took from one of my Favorite Wenatchee Spot - OHME GARDENS.

"Enjoy a refreshing respite at this amazing evergreen oasis in the heart of Washington State. Nearly a mile of natural stone pathways traverses the hillside gardens, ushering you past breathtaking panoramic views, towering cedars and firs, lush foliage, mesmerizing waterfalls and tranquil pools. Stone benches located throughout the grounds provide ample opportunities to savor the beauty of Ohme Gardens. The average time to tour the Gardens is one hour. "Kids at Ohme...what a great hike!

    The Wenatchee Vortex

Wenatchee makes my top ten list of things I didn't think I do. Although I was raised here both I & my parents left shortly after I graduated from High School. I managed not to come back for 7 years. But then it happened.....the Wenatchee Vortex got me: Yep, I fell in love with & married a hometown boy. One of my brother's best friends, in fact (oops!) This all surprised me because I didn't think I'd end up back here. I used to shy away from the vortex....when I first moved back I hated going to the grocery store because of running into people I hadn't see in a decade and didn't know if they'd remember me or if I'd recall how exactly I knew them. Along my path back to Wenatchee I did grow accostom to a plethora of small world experiences relating to the vortex:
