Make-A-Difference Day and Arbor Day in APRIL!

The best time to plant an oak tree was 25 years ago. The second best time is today. -James Carville

April is a fantastic month to get your kids involved with Earth Day and Arbor Day.  What events do you know about that I can share with these readers?  I am looking for anything and everything from PTA clean-up days to trail building.

Another way to help our community...Share - A - Bear

Sometimes just sitting with a quiet, huggable buddy does wonders for the soul....now your kids can help give that gift to a local person in need by selecting one of thier gently used teddy bears.  Fatih Godbey has developed the Share-A-Bear to help locals year round find that gift of comfort.  Please consider teaching your child about those in our community who need simple pelasures like a teddy

Take your kids to a service project this Make A Difference Day -

Anyone who reads this blog regularly knows that I am deeply rooted with a few non-profit organizations (Junior Service League of Wenatchee, Festival of Trees, and the Wenatchee Downtown Association).  At time my husband wonders if my talents could be put to a more "profitable pursuit" instead of "giving away" my time and skills.  Not to say my hunky husband is not compassionate, it is that he sees the labor, the time, the stress, the meetings away from home...the work (volunteering is work, make no mistake!). I always tell him that it will all pan out in the long run

I guess my purpose in volunteering is to create a sense of civic involvement and responsibility in my children.  Sometimes my involvement with the non-profit groups

Kids Can Make Difference Too - Be Green and read!!

Last year I was looking for story ideas on the Make A Difference Day.  I stumbled onto this site.  I try to keep things local but also understand that we are a super tech savvy group here at MyFamilyCompass.com.  So reaching to the internet to Make A Difference sure helps those of us with crazy busy schedules.

Kids Can Make  Difference .  It actually has two parts - purchase a book (part 1 - Literacy) and get a tree (Part 2 - Be Green).  Each year in October a new author is choosen so check to see what books are available for the 2010 Make A Difference Day!

If you find more wonderful sites contributing to helping parents build the citizens of the future, pass it along to me.  I will get it out there as soon as possible.
