We have been running the Annual Turkey on the Run - ThanksgivingAddie and Roper bundled for the run... Fun Run for 3 years.  The 2010 was a blast....of chilly cold at 10 degrees but we bundled up and went to it. 

INFO PROVIDED BY TURKEY ON THE RUN - Turkey On The Run is great way to kick off your holiday season with fun and fitness! Our 5k Run/Walk, 12k Run and Kids Run will start and finish at beautiful Rotary Park in Wenatchee, WA. The run starts at 9:00 am sharp for both distances. There will be day of registration. Age group winners will receive great prizes and we will have great raffle prizes for everyone! Please bring a canned food donation, to help support our local food banks!



The story of the Jack o'Lantern comes from Irish folklore. Jack was a crafty farmer who tricked the Devil into climbing a tall tree. When the Devil reached the highest branch, Jack carved a large cross in the trunk, making it impossible for the Devil to climb down.

In exchange for help getting out of the tree, the Devil promised never to tempt Jack with evil again. When Jack died, he was turned away from Heaven for his sins and turned away from Hell because of his trickery. Condemned to wander the earth without rest, Jack carved out one of his turnips, took an ember from the devil, and used it for a lantern to light his way. He became known as "Jack of the Lantern."

Tori had so much fun at the Kids Bike For Shoes event in 2010!  We are rounding up more kids to join use for the event.  In addition to be part of a event serving our local kids in need there was fun face painting, a local artist sharing her crafts and an overall sense of working towards a common goal for the greater good!

Here is what the event coordinators wrote on Facebook:

We're preparing to host a kids’ fund raising bike ride around the Wenatchee "Loop" on Saturday, June 11. Check in is from 9:00—10:00 AM, starting at Riverfront Park. (At the base of 5th St. in Wenatchee)

There's a full loop course for the big kids, with a shorter course for the younger ones. (No independent riders younger than 4 please, but tag-along and trailer are warmly welcomed.) There will be a safety inspection beforehand, with goodies at sponsored rest stops along the way. All riders under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, (but each adult can accompany several kids).

All proceeds will go to support a local community outreach whereby underprivileged children of the Wenatchee Valley are given a new pair of shoes as part of Serve Wenatchee Valley's "Back to School Clothing Giveaway."

When I first got married flowers were a common part of my day.  We had a big flower garden with lots of daisys and sunflowers (my 2 favorite flowers).  Since moving back to Leavenworth I have not been a very good cultivator of anything more than kids.  Although I love having a garden my outdoor flowers consist of planters around the house.  Nice but really not big enough to harvest any for indoors.  Since Sara's kindness I plan to get fresh cut flowers at least once a month to brighten our lives!  Thanks Sara for reminding me to bring the beauty of the outdoors into my home!!
