I am not sure my family would sustain a crazy, life-altering diet so something that can fit into what we eat and have in our pantry is a good start. I started looking into to several options: Paleo Diet, Body For Life, Beach Body…and so on. They are all compelling diets. Now it is up to me to institute it and live by it. My first goal is to go for 30 days on the Paleo Diet. My friend and workout partner, Molly is going to do it with me. It is a diet based on the assumed diet of our super distant relatives – the cave man when the primary food sources were whole fruits, nuts, roots, and any protein that could be hunted.

To achieve these goals I am going to dedicate at least 5 days a week to workouts with lifting at least 2 times per week. I am also going to limit my alcohol to 1 night a week until March (after that I have too many events and classes not to taste – truly – it is my job to drink wine.) I have started keep track of what I put in my mouth. Since I do most of the cooking I get a head start on meals around our house. I am limiting myself to what I serve the others.

Realistically I believe I can lose 10 of those pounds before March – that gives me almost 12 weeks of working on this goal. The rest I plan to shed by fall 2011. We are slated to go to another tropical spot (adults only this time!) this fall and I want to wear my real bathing suit…not something I throw over myself.

Got on the scale each morning for the last 3 days and have lost 2 pounds....they have not retruned in 3 days so I am believing they are gone for good!
